The Quick & Easy Boys w/ Little Legend, Robby Schiller
Yacht Club – Thursday, November 7 at 9 p.m. ($7)
The Quick & Easy Boys are an addictive power pop trio based out of Portland, Oregon, which is terribly far away. Fortunately, the group will be visiting Iowa City on Thursday, November 7 to put on a show alongside Little Legend and Robby Schiller at the Yacht Club (considerably closer).
Why should you care? The little-known group puts on a persona-driven stage show that’s as high on energy as it is on technical skill. They put on a truly polished performance, simply put, and their latest album, Make it Easy, is no slouch either. The group has a certain kind of toe-tapping, spastic energy that’s difficult to capture in a studio, however, so Thursday’s show should be priority number one for those looking to dip in a toe or two.
The Quick & Easy Boys got off to a quiet start in 2005 before quickly amassing a dedicated fan base in Oregon. They stayed tucked up in the Pacific Northwest for several years before heading out on their first U.S. tour in 2009. In the mean time, they’ve opened for the likes of The Meat Puppets, Deer Tick, Blitzen Trapper and countless other groups you know and (probably) love. How’s that for a peer endorsement?
On Thursday, you’ll have a chance to see what all the fuss is about as The Quick & Easy Boys take the stage alongside Madison, Wisconsin’s Little Legend and Robby Schiller at Iowa City’s favorite (only?) underground venue. Not only is this group making its way to Iowa City at last, but they’re doing so for the measly price of $7.
