Poets Margaret Ross, Sarah Deniz Akant, and Callie Garnett at Prairie Lights


natureIowa Writers’ Workshop graduates Margaret Ross, Sara Deniz Akant, and Callie Garnett will be reading their poetry this evening, 7:00 p.m. at Prairie Lights.

Margaret Ross was the winner of The Omnidawn Poetry Book Prize for her title A Timeshare. She has been the recipient of a Fullbright as well as a fellowship from the Breadloaf Writers’ Conference. She is currently a Stegner Fellow at Stanford.

Sarah Deniz Akant is the author of Babette, Parades, and Latronic Strag. She has received fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell, and the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference. Her work has appeared in The Brooklyn Rail, The Denver Quarterly, and jubilat.

Callie Garnett’s chapbook Hallelujah, I’m a Bum was published by Ugly Duckling Press. Her art has been featured in Public Books, Petri Press, and the Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association. Callie is a native of Brooklyn.
