Voters had a little extra push to vote early from actor Sean Astin — known for his roles in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Goonies and Rudy. Astin, a surrogate for Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton, spoke on the first day of early voting yesterday at the Java House in downtown Iowa City.
After a short speech, Astin led the crowd outside and pointed them in the direction of the Iowa City Public Library to cast their ballots, inviting them to pose for photos and chat afterwards.
