Little Village columnists have already been buzzing about this weekend’s performers. Read the review of Jim Swim’s latest EP before seeing him perform with Sun Centauri at this weekend’s final Friday Night Concert in Iowa City. The Playcrafters Barn Theatre in the Quad Cities is finishing their run of A Streecar Named Desire, a show so moving LV theater reviewer Sarah Elgatian said it’s “one of the most well-performed plays I have ever attended.” Westward, world-class skaters have descended on Des Moines for the Des Moines Streetstyle Open, a multi-day open street contest in and around Lauridsen Skatepark. (LV’s Adria Carpenter dove into the origins of Lauridsen, the nation’s largest skatepark, in a photo feature last year.) All this and more in today’s Weekender!
