The first weekend of the spookiest of months brings witches, a trashy fashion show and 100 percussionists descending upon Iowa City’s City Park. The Iowa Stage Theatre Company presents Jen Silverman’s reimagined fable, Witch, at Stoner Theater in Des Moines. In Davenport the Putnam Museum present a “Garbage Glam Fashion Show” where all designers are challenged with creating garments using at least 70% reused materials. A weeklong residency by Hancher artist Steven Schick culminates in Sunday’s Inuksuit, which was “designed to be performed outdoors with as many as 99 percussionists, and is aimed at exploring the sound of a place.”
