This Sunday, spirits will be made bright at the Iowa City Public Library. The Music is the Word series will settle in to the holiday season with a Cocoa and Carols event, featuring the Combined Efforts Men’s Choir. Music is the Word, a programming series by the Iowa City Public Library, has been celebrating music in our community in various ways since September as a means of welcoming the University of Iowa School of Music to the downtown area. The diverse offerings will continue through May 2016, and also include a seasonal concert with Matthew Coley on Saturday at 1 p.m., as well as and a movie sing-a-long of Muppet Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.

Combined Efforts Theatre formed its Men’s Choir in 2012. The group is currently conducted by Cole Hotek. Like all of CET’s initiatives, the Men’s Choir is intentionally inclusive of community members with disabilities. Join them in Meeting Rooms A, B & C from 2–3:30 p.m. for a joyful and festive Christmas Carol sing-along. Some cookies may also be available!
