Mission Creek Spotlight: Dead Rider, Foul Tip, Sweet Chariot

Dead Rider
Dead Rider’s latest album, Chills on Glass made its debut last month on Drag City.

Dead Rider w/ Foul Tip, Sweet Chariot

The Mill — Sunday, April 6 at 8 p.m. ($8)

Experimental noise, drum and bass, and progressive sludge metal. These are the styles of the three very different bands that will close out the Mission Creek Festival Sunday at The Mill.

Chicago’s Dead Rider is the headliner, and will be promoting their new record, Chills on Glass. The album is every bit of their ‘experimental noise’ label. Their style ranges from featuring punk guitars to disco synthesizers, making for unpredictable songs, and even more unpredictable performances. Frontman Todd Rittman will confuse the crowd into thinking they’re in a crazed mosh pit one second, and then an electro-infused dance party the next.

Also on the bill is the drum and bass duo Foul Tip, as well as the progressive sludge metal trio Sweet Chariot. The former plays minimalist instrumentation with casual and sometimes comical vocals, while the latter plays an almost all-instrumental set of chugging riffs from their deafening amps.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m. Ticket information can be found here.
