Little Village Comedy Hour w/ Ian Abramson

The Mill — Thursday, August 27 at 9 p.m.

Declared the “Best Experimental Comedian” by Chicago magazine and the host of the A.V. Club’s new monthly Chicago comedy show Bell Hop, Ian Abramson returns to Iowa City for a special edition of the Little Village Comedy Hour at The Mill on Thursday, August 27 at 9 p.m.

Ian Abramson visited Iowa City in February for the Green Gravel Festival. In the months since, he has performed stand up at Austin’s South by Southwest, Portland’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival and Montreal’s Just for Laughs, and performed with Kyle Kinane at The Onion’s second 26th Annual Comedy Festival. Abramson has also hosted comedians such as Eric Andre, Rory Scovel, Ron Funches and Lauren Lapkus on his comedy series Seven Minutes in Purgatory, an experimental and live stand-up show which requires comedians to perform while completely isolated from the audience.

Abramson’s comedy is a unique blend of hilarious mind-bending one-liners, vaudeville-style physical comedy, and all manner of stand-up conventions set on their head. It’s truly an act that can only be appreciated firsthand.

Abramson will be joined by Chicago stand-up comedian Alex Kumin. Kumin is a cast member of The Lincoln Lodge, Chicago’s longest running independent stand-up showcase, and has been praised in Chicago magazine for the unapologetic honesty of her comedy.

The show is hosted by former Little Village editor Arash Singh, and, in addition to Abramson, features stand up by Singh, Robert Flanagan, Rubén Lebron and Michael Glaviano.
