The Hawkeyes have a bye week, so there won’t be any football players on the field at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, but there will be plenty of runners. The field will serve as the finish line for the annual Kickoff to Kinnick 5K Run/Walk, which starts at 9 a.m.

No streets will be closed down for the race, but there will be reduced traffic flow along the route, according to a press release from the city.

The route begins on Hawkins Drive next to the Ronald McDonald House and Carver-Hawkeye Arena, then travels down Hawkins to the Coralville Strip (Highway 6), turns onto Mormon Trek Boulevard, then Melrose Avenue and ends on the field inside Kinnick Stadium.

The post-race party will not take place in Kinnick this year, instead being hosted at Big Grove Brewery, 1225 S Gilbert St, starting at 10 a.m.

Proceeds from the event go to support the University of Iowa Dance Marathon.
