Just announced: Marilynne Robinson to give free lecture at the Englert on Dec. 9

The University of Iowa announced today that Pulitzer prize winning novelist and Iowa Writer’s Workshop professor Marilynne Robinson will give a free lecture at the Englert Theatre on Dec. 9 at 5:30 pm. The lecture, dubbed “The American Scholar Now,” is a late addition to the UI’s Creative Matters series.

Robinson recently drew national attention for her interview with President Barack Obama, conducted in Des Moines, about the tension between democracy and religion. Her address at the UI is aptly timed, as communities across the country debate the role of public education leading up to the 2016 Presidential Primary.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is suggested, but not required.
