Lily & Madeleine

The Mill — Saturday, May 21 at 8 p.m.

Lily&Madeleine
Sisters Lily & Madeleine will perform at The Mill in May.

Folk duo Lily & Madeleine started out in music by uploading YouTube videos when they were in high school. Since then, the perilously youthful Jurkiewickz sisters (the younger, Lily, is still in her teens) have released three albums and cemented their place in the indie folk scene. They’ve racked up milestones that their elders still strive for, including an achingly beautiful Daytrotter session and an exquisite NPR Tiny Desk concert. Their first two records — their 2013 self-titled debut and 2014’s Fumes — were released on Sufjan Stevens’ Asthmatic Kitty label.

Their newest record, Keep It Together, came out in late February, the oh-so-close culmination of their goal to release an album a year for three straight years. Their flawless vocals are in full effect on this new offering, with dancing harmonies backed by more varied musical choices.

The Indianapolis natives have also lent their lustrous vocals to such projects as John Mellencamp’s musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County and a track on upcoming Mission Creek performers Son Lux’s 2013 album Lanterns.

Lily & Madeleine will perform at The Mill on Saturday, May 21. Advance tickets are $10 and go on sale this Friday, Mar. 18.
