Former University of Iowa student-body president and bona fide indie rocker Jesse Elliott will bring his new band, Ark Life, to the Englert for a special intimate set on June 21. Seating for intimate sets is on stage, only 100 tickets will be sold.
In addition to providing the soundtrack to many memorable parties at the Mill here in Iowa City, Elliott’s last project, These United States, toured extensively, received praise from NPR, The New York Times, SPIN and KEXP, and got invited to play at major international festivals such as Lollapalooza and Glastonbury.
Ark Life is already off to a great start, earning a spot on Daytrotter’s Best of 2013 compilation for a recording made there this April. Sure, that compilation is more than 200 tracks long, but hey, GO HAWKS!
