If you’ve ever endured the long lines at the Bluebird Diner or Hamburg Inn on a Sunday morning, there’s one thing you’ve likely noticed above all: People love their brunch. This Sunday, Nov. 9 starting at 9 a.m., the Jane Boyd Community House will offer another, music-filled breakfast option as they host their third Gospel Brunch fundraiser at C.S.P.S. Hall (1103 Third St. SE, Cedar Rapids).
The Gospel Brunch has two main components: the brunch and a performance by the gospel group The Jones Family Singers.
The Jones Family Singers, a Texas-based gospel group comprised of seven siblings and their father, will perform at C.S.P.S. the previous evening and are sticking around an extra day to perform at Gospel Brunch.
The multi-generational family band got their start in the ’80s and have been recording and touring ever since. Their music combines elements of soul, R&B and funk with uplifting, gospel anthems. Acclaimed by many media outlets, NPR called them a “must see act.”

While listening to live music, attendees will enjoy a breakfast buffet that draws inspiration from Southern cuisine with dishes like fried chicken. There will also be traditional brunch staples like omelettes and, of course, mimosas.
All proceeds from Gospel Brunch will benefit Jane Boyd Community House, a center that provides counseling services, after school programs and other supports for youth and their families.
Gospel Brunch will have two seatings, the first is from 9-11 a.m. and the second is from 12-2 p.m. Tickets cost $45 per person and can be purchased online.
