Greetings Weekenders!
Thanks to Big Ben Hansen for being our special guest last night on Little Village on the Air! You can find Ben – along with the fairest of the fair trade coffee – at The Clean Bean Cafe, a new espresso cart currently posted up on Prentiss St. (down S. Gilbert St, in the parking lot behind The Vine)… We agree – ‘cleanest bean in the whole damn scene.’
Little Village is on the air every Wednesday, 5-6 pm on KRUI, 89.7 in Iowa City or online here
Also, Thanks to Summer of the Arts for another great Jazz Fest! Little Village was backstage all weekend collecting footage with help from Public Access TV. Also, KCCK was streaming the entire weekend on 88.3. They have graciously offered to share the recordings with us, so please come back soon and check LV TV for a round-up of last weekend’s jazzy excitement!
Now, on to this weekend:
THURSDAY
Reading: Man Martin | Prairie Lights | 7 pm | FREE
Movie: Medicine for Melancholy | Bijou | 9:30 pm | $5
FRIDAY
Friday Night Concert Series: Euforquestra | Downtown Pedestrian Mall | 6:30-9:30 | FREE
Next weekend is Iowa’s own mini-bonaroo, Camp Euforia, and this weekend you can see the band that started it all, Euforquestra, live on the Ped Mall. The event is part of the Summer of the Arts Friday Night Concert Series, and this week’s co-sponsor is the Iowa City Public Library.
SATURDAY
Seed Savers Benefit Concert featuring Greg Brown | Heritage Farm, near Decorah, IA | 7 pm | $20 advance, $25 door
I know it’s a little bit of a drive, but these days we don’t get many chances to see Greg Brown. If you know and love his music, and if you care about the work done by Seed Savers Exchange you know this will be worth the trip.
Sorry, kind of brief, but that’s all for this week’s Weekender… Thanks for reading!
