Abby Sevcik

Trumpet Blossom Café — Saturday, September 12 at 12 p.m.

Locals looking for an escape from the gameday madness this Saturday will find the perfect alternative in Abby Sevcik. Soft pop with plenty of indie flare, Sevcik’s sound could almost lend itself to country music — not because it is especially twangy, but because of the impassioned femininity in her voice. This Saturday, the local musician (and UI junior) will bring her Nashville-soaked alto to an afternoon performance at the Trumpet Blossom Café.

Sevcik’s 2013 EP For Keeps features songs that are simple and soft in nature, showcasing Sevcik’s subtle, powerful voice. More recently, Sevcik partnered with Chicago-based electronic artist Mielo to record “Surreal”—a track that now has over 169 thousand plays on Soundcloud, making it the most popular track on Mielo’s page.

For Keeps is available on iTunes.
