Free Comic Book Day

Daydreams Comics — May 3 at 10 a.m.

Free Comic Book Day is nearly here, and Daydreams Comics is celebrating with free comics, graphic novels, special deals and a meet-and-greet with comic book artist Ian McGinty. The event takes place on May 3 and runs from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

McGinty is known for his work on Ugly Doll, Hello Kitty, Bravest Warrior, and Adventure Time: Candy Capers — a spin off comic starring Peppermint Butler and Cinnamon Bun from the popular Adventure Time animated series. He’ll be signing autographs, doing sketches and chatting with fans at the event.

The event will also serve as a fundraiser for the Iowa City Animal Center. Daydreams Comics will be accepting donations throughout the day and, as an incentive for donating, a selection of graphic novels will be available for donors to choose from. In order to receive one of these graphic novels, a minimum donation of $5 is required. Daydreams Comics says that those who donate $20 can choose four graphic novels, including a special edition “variant cover” version of Liberator Earth Crisis, an animal rights comic.
