Owl Glass Puppetry Center — 319 N. Calhoun, West Liberty

A touring festival of puppet films will be screened on Friday in West Liberty at 8 p.m. at the Owl Glass Puppetry Center, 319 N. Calhoun St.

The films are curated by Heather Henson (daughter of Muppet creator Jim Henson) who has collected short films featuring live-action puppetry from independent and upcoming puppeteers. The screening will feature Volume Three of Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams film collection.

Recommended for ages ten and up, the screening is part of a mature-audience season at Owl Glass, which included an October staging of King Lear by California non-profit theatre company The Independent Eye. The season will wind down in April with a puppet show staging of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Miller’s Tale by Magical Moonshine Theatre, also from California.

Owl Glass founder Monica Leo said if the event goes well, they’ll host more puppet films.

Established in 1995, Owl Glass Puppetry Center houses Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre, which has been entertaining audiences since 1974 as a touring puppet troupe.
