Field Division

Iowa City Yacht Club — Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 p.m.

The perfect soundtrack walking around the rainy streets of Iowa City this fall will be Reverie State, the 2014 debut EP from Des Moines-based duo Field Division. Their music is a delicate dance between acoustic folk and a synthesizer, a balance they label as Folkwave.

Evelyn Taylor uses her sexy, energetic vocals to give reality to the dreaminess of Nicholas Frampton’s guitar and harmonies. This soothing combination conjures hints of Mazzy Star, Sigur Ros and, of course, the Fleet Foxes, whom they cover with a blustery version of “Lorelei.” Polish up your best shoes to gaze at this Friday night while Field Division puts you in a musical trance. You’ll want to make this show.
