The Mill was packed on Sunday for the sophomore edition of the Roast of Iowa City, which was once again hosted by Yale Cohn. There was hardly an empty seat since people poured in eager to hear the dirty, hysterical truth about the city we love(hate) so much.
The Roasters didn’t just get butts in the seats, they also kept the laughter flowing like cold tap beer. Seven Roasters in all, including yours truly as a stand-in, gave Iowa City what for without any remorse. Nothing was off limits and the roasters hit all the topics you’d expect local smart-asses to hit; the highly-educated masses of Iowa City, supporters across the political spectrum, ordinances of varying types of ridiculousness, Iowa football and the beloved City Council, among other things. The audience was generous with laughter and forgiving of the cringe-worthy remarks, even though the cringing was over some of the most hysterical (and true) comments.
