Blues Traveler
Englert Theatre – August 28 at 8:00 p.m. ($35)
The Englert Theatre announced today that Blues Traveler will be heading to Iowa City for a show on August 28.
The group’s Grammy Award-winning album Four — which you might as well start streaming right now, if you haven’t already — is as catchy as ever, granted these songs have now been stuck in my head for twenty goddamn years.
Fortunately, Blues Traveler has been plugging away in the intervening years, releasing seven studio albums since the release of Four in 1994. This isn’t exactly a secret, but seeing as how we live in a time where every single in-studio track Blues Travler has ever recorded is just one click away, consider this a gentle reminder to check out some of their more recent material.
Frontman John Popper says the group’s latest album is “unlike previous Blues Traveler albums in that it features quite a bit of input from outside songwriters. I don’t think there’s any song you get bored with, or a bunch of the same kind of tune. We’re really pleased with how it turned out. After 25 years of being a band, this is a really great high water mark.”
Tickets for this show will go on sale Friday at noon.
