DTCV announced Sunday that an unfortunate “deer encounter” has forced the group to cancel the rest of their US tour, including a scheduled performance on October 1 at The Mill in Iowa City. The collision totaled the group’s touring van, though DTCV’s update suggests that the tour’s cancellation is the result of injuries sustained in the crash:

Quick update: while none of us were severely injured in our recent van-totaling high speed deer encounter, both Chris and Guylaine got banged up to the degree we’re going to have to cancel the remaining dates of the US tour (in order: Chicago, Iowa City, Madison, St. Louis, Lawrence, and Denver). We’re really sorry and promise that we’ll be back soon. Thanks for all the well-wishes.

The collision occurred while the group was heading back to their hotel from Illinois’ Pygmalion Music Festival. Members experienced “whiplash, contusions and body aches,” according to separate update from DTCV.

Also canceled is a reading by DTCV’s James Greer, who had planned to stop by the Clinton Street Social Club Tuesday evening to share passages from his new collection of short fiction, Everything Flows.
