Doreen’s Jazz brings the sound of New Orleans to The Mill

Doreen’s Jazz

The Mill — Tuesday Sept. 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Though Doreen Ketchens has toured internationally as a featured act, there is little doubt that she won’t feel right at home when she and her touring act, ‘Doreen’s Jazz,’ play the intimate stage of The Mill. After all, she’s built her whole career on playing in the most up-close and personal of settings: The streets of New Orleans.

The jazz clarinetist has performed traditional New Orleans jazz on the corner of Nola’s St. Peter and Royal streets for more than 25 years, and though Ketchens has moved on to critical acclaim and wide public exposure on radio and TV, including a well-deserved cameo on HBO’s Treme, she still encourages fans to find her on the intersection.
