The women’s clothing boutique Domby will return to Iowa City after closing its downtown doors last summer. The store has found a new northside location at 213 N. Linn St. next to Brix, and hopes to open by May 1.

According to owner Valerie Chittick, she began to look for a location with more parking for customers after the lease on the old location ran out. In addition to the added convenience, the new space will also provide a fresh look for the business.

“Our new location feels very urban and modern, yet the brick exterior speaks to the long time history of the neighborhood,” said Chittick. “I developed an interior plan to bring highlight to the clothing, footwear, accessories and new, amazing body products.”

Domby will still focus on women’s clothing, emphasizing stylish staples and the idea that a smaller, higher-quality wardrobe is best, Chittick says. The new space will allow for growth, though; the business’s StyleBox service — which allows customers to receive stylist-selected items by mail — will be expanded, as well as their body care lines from Tokyo Milk and Lollia.

Once Domby’s doors reopen in the next couple of weeks, Chittick plans to hold an open house party to celebrate the new location.
