Summit of Solid Soul

The Mill — Thursday, June 18 at 9 p.m.

Iowa City’s Diplomats of Solid Sound will reunite this Thursday night at The Mill. With two albums released, the soul band has performed at music festivals and gigs around the country, and their live performances have built a strong fan base. The presenting members include Sarah Cram and Kathy Ruestow on lead vocals, Doug Roberson on guitar, Nate Basinger on Hammond Organ, Forrest Heusinkyeld on drums, Eddie McKinkley on tenor sax and David Basinger on baritone sax.

The Filthy Six will join the stage to help celebrate The Diplomat’s reunion. From London, U.K., the funk band features the horn section from Mumford and Sons and has accompanied well-known names such as Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Beck. The band specializes in organ jazz and upbeat funk. Their high energy, soulful sound will perfectly accompany the Diplomats.

The Mill is hosting both bands for the “Solid Soul Summit” this Thursday night at 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door.
