Finals are just a week away at Iowa State University, but that hasn’t stopped some die-hard Cyclone fans from camping outside Hilton Coliseum in anticipation tomorrow’s bout against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The temperature in Ames, Iowa is expected to drop into single digits, tonight.

So, apart from the rivalry, why all the fuss? Both the Iowa (10-1) and Iowa State (7-0) men’s basketball teams will head into Friday’s match as ranked teams. The last time this happened, Ronald Reagan was the President of the United States, The Cold War was still a thing and The Cosby Show was the biggest hit on television. Are you getting this? People were blasting Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again” on their radios.

Ticket prices have skyrocketed amid what is, undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated match-ups of the season. Many on Twitter have pointed out the utter lack of tickets currently available on the secondary market, in fact. As of today, only five tickets are listed on SeatGeak, with the lowest ticket going for a whopping $167. StubHub lists 12 available tickets, with prices ranging from $150 to $300.

The Hawkeyes take on the Cyclones this Friday, December 13 at 8:30 p.m. Check it out on ESPNU, and maybe keep an eye out for a group of frost-bitten ISU fans, while you’re at it.
