Cedar Rapids based rap group Big Bang released their new single, “Vodka Samm (Iowa Fuckin’ City)” today, professing their love for Iowa (fuckin’) City, hot girls and ridiculous amounts of binge drinking.
You might remember Big Bang from their local hit “Cedar Rapids (Won’t Let You Down).”
The song is a celebration of excess inspired by University of Iowa student Samantha Goudie, or @Vodka_samm’s, shenanigans at a Hawkeye football game last August. The chorus reads, “Like damn, I’m trying to get as drunk as Vodka Samm … Boom shaka laka, Ima drink me some more vodka in Iowa fuckin’ City.”
No, seriously.
The song cleverly references many well-known businesses and attractions like The Summit Bar and Restaurant, chicken on a stick, Kinnick Stadium and the Ped Mall.
Goudie has since expressed regret about her behavior, but it seems as though her reputation as Vodka Samm is alive and well, at least in the Iowa City hip hop scene.
