Calling all bacon enthusiasts! On Saturday, Sept. 20, Townsquare Media Cedar Rapids will host the Second Annual Cedar Rapids Baconfest, a celebration of all things bacon. The festival will be held at NewBo City Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Diana Crowley, an events coordinator with Townsquare Media, says that Baconfest will include live music, cooking demonstrations and “most importantly, bacon served with cold beverages” — ie. beer.

Events include the Home Chef Cook-Off, where 15 cooks will be judged on their new and creative bacon-themed dishes; a Leinenkugel kayak giveaway; and a variety of bacon delicacies from local restaurants including 101 Gastropub‘s bacon truffle mac and cheese.

Live entertainment will be provided by Jen Zoller and John Fokken of the band 8 Seconds, which covers modern and classic country as well as southern and classic rock. The Fez, a 15-piece Steely Dan cover band, will also be performing.

Tickets cost $20 and include admission to all events, a Baconfest koozie and all the bacon you can eat. Admission is free for kids ages 6 and under.
