As temperatures continue to drop and outdoor activities become less and less appealing, a soon-to-open Cedar Rapids business may help bounce away the winter blues.
Sky Zone (5515 Council Street NE Suite 2, Cedar Rapids), an indoor trampoline park, plans to open next month and will be the second area trampoline park, joining AirFX in Hiawatha. In addition to wall-to-wall trampolines, there will also be a giant “Foam Zone” — a pit filled with 10,000 foam cubes and basketball hoops on the court. Sky Zone will host various events — both public and private — for bouncers of all ages. It sells itself as a low-impact form of exercise, good for beginners, seniors, people with weight problems and those with arthritis or osteoporosis.
With locations all over the country, Sky Zone has already come to Iowa with a location in Des Moines, and the new location will offer similar exercise and entertainment for those in Eastern Iowa. The venue will offer two fitness classes and will take reservations for birthday parties and group events.
Participants at Sky Zone must fill out a waiver before they will be allowed to jump, and children under the age of 18 must have this form signed by a parent or guardian. Rental and pricing information is available through the Sky Zone website.
Before opening, Sky Zone plans to host two job fairs in hopes of recruiting around 70 employees. The job fairs, held at Sky Zone, are on Nov. 7 from 3-7 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2-5 p.m.
