Beaux Arts Ball
Old Brick — Thursday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m.
The South East Iowa section of the American Institute of Architects just announced that they will host a Masquerade Ball fundraiser on Oct. 1 at Old Brick (26 E. Market St.) in Iowa City. This fundraiser will benefit three local arts organizations: Arts Iowa City, Eastern Iowa Arts Academy and the Lowell and Agnes Walter Estate at Cedar Rock.
Arts Iowa City is a non-profit organization that acts as a liaison for artists and galleries. They are currently fundraising to create a local Arts Center, the ArtiFactory.
The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy provides free after school arts programming for K-12 that focuses on everything artistic from music and dance to drama and writing.
The Cedar Rock Foundation is the primary monetary source for maintaining the Cedar Rock State Park. The main attraction of this State Park is The Walter House, a home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Originally built as a private residence, Lowell Walter generously donated his home to the Iowa Conservation Commission upon his death in 1981.
Tickets for the Beaux Arts Ball are $15 for individual entry or $150 for an eight-person table. The ticket price includes a masquerade mask, appetizers, beverages, live music, dancing, prizes, a silent auction, and more! Costume-wear is encouraged.
