The growing Des Moines comedy scene stretches to monstrous proportions this weekend for the Beast Village Comedy Festival, a two-day festival of seven comedy shows held in Des Moines’ East Village. Comedians from Iowa City and across the midwest are headed to Des Moines to perform with local comics as well as three headling acts: stand-up performers Andy Sandford and Dave Ross, and Timmy Williams of the sketch group The Whitest Kids U’ Know.
“I’m excited for Beast Village because there are going to be comedians from all over, and it’s exciting to connect with other people who love comedy,” said Kristy Hartsgrove Mooers, a comedian from Iowa City performing at the festival. Two other Iowa City comedians will be performing at the Festival, Daniel Frana and Spencer Loucks.
Both Frana and Hartsgrove Mooers performed with Beast Village headliner David Ross at a Kyle Kinane stand-up performance in Iowa City.
“I’m really excited about seeing Dave Ross again, he killed it with Kinane and he’ll kill it again,” said Frana.
