Prominent Black creatives to discuss growing up in Iowa at the Des Moines Art Center

Three high-profile Iowa natives will be in conversation this Sunday at the Des Moines Art Center. Artist b. Robert Moore and artist-activist Jordan Weber will join Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of The 1619 Project, Nikole Hannah-Jones. The evening sees the three come together to talk about growing up in the predominately white state of Iowa, with a discussion that touches on their “…pursuits to bring wider and more nuanced stories of our American history to the forefront.”

The panel is one of a series of events celebrating Moore’s ongoing solo exhibition, “Iowa Artists 2024: b. Robert Moore: In Loving Memory,” on view at the Des Moines Art Center now through Oct. 20, 2024.

Although the event has reached capacity, interested parties who haven’t registered will still have a chance to watch the discussion online.
