Celebrate DIY culture this Thursday at Public Space One during a night of folk-punk, electro-punk, and post-punk (three! three kinds of punk music!). The show begins at 8 p.m. and costs $5.

A two-piece from Bloomington, Indiana, Ghost Mice has gained traction as a luminary in the national DIY scene, playing endearingly goofy, heart-on-sleeve songs in living rooms and basements across the country, all while signed to the amazing Plan-It X Records. Even after playing for twelve years, the group has never (well, almost never, there have been two exceptions) used amps or microphones. Though born out of a desire to simply tour lightly, their acoustic approach lends a powerful intimacy to their performances.

Bernays Propaganda, a post-punk band from Macedonia, is on tour with Ghost Mice (because sometimes the universe just smiles upon you). Bernays is wild, with a groovy funk-rock sound not too far from !!!, but with sing-shout vocals and an emphasis on noisy, disharmonic guitars.

Supporting act, Fairfieldโ€™s Little Ruckus, will bring the party with his blaring electro-pop beats and generally crazy performance. Case in point: Last time he played PS1, he scaled one of the gallery walls in a single jump (no, really).

Des Moines’ Lesbian Poetry and Williamsburg’s Hooray will round out the bill with a bunch more folk-punk songs.
