After more than two weeks on the run, the goat who escaped the University of Iowa Research Park on Jan. 29 has finally been recovered. According to a press release from the UI Research and Economic Development Office, the goat was found yesterday afternoon between Coralville and North Liberty, at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Auburn East Lane. He is reported to be healthy.
The goat’s escape and subsequent pursuit attracted the attention of local media, the cooperation of area police and sheriff departments and the ire of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
The goat responded to its arrest on Twitter:
How did I managed to avoid capture for so long? Bleating edge joint technology, thanks to @uiowa.

William deserves to live out his life at New Life Animal Sanctuary. He is not an ‘it’, he is a living, breating, conscious being. He feels pain, and he will feel a lot of it in these experiments. #letwilliamgo
Animal testing is archaic and scientifically invalid
