The Seagull Society: SAVED!
Open-Mic Storytelling Event
Jan. 25 | 8 p.m.
Public Space One
(129 E. Washington)

Iowa City’s iconic Seagull Society presents another night of open mic, pull-no-punches storytelling based around the theme SAVED!

“What saved you?” the group asks on its Facebook event page, “The light? The bell? The goalie?” Join this motley crew of tangled web-weavers Friday, Jan. 25, for a night of storytelling magic. Bring a story of salvation to share, or just come enjoy the spectacle. Either way, your presence is a gift.

The Seagull Society is a self-described “storytelling cadre” that holds a monthly Gathering of the Gulls—themed storytelling evenings that are open to the public. The Society was formed to honor Joe Gould, a homeless Harvard grad known as “Professor Seagull” who purported to have authored the longest book ever written, An Oral History of Our Time.

The event is part of the Public Space One art auction, a live-action demonstration of how your support for PS1 benefits Iowa City’s creative scene. If you haven’t yet checked out this eclectic gallery/performance space/workshop, Jan. 25 is the perfect night to become a part of its story.
