Tires’ new single drops May 27.

This January, Des Moines band Tires headed into Flat Black Studios to finally record the full album their fans have been waiting for. With a couple of EPs under their belt, it was about time for these tenured musicians to finally commit to something large scale.

Tires could quite easily be termed a “supergroup,” in the context of Iowa’s musical legacy. The members are involved in countless other projects in the area, from the Wheelers (a personal favorite; Phil Young and Jordan Mayland are members) to Volcano Boys (also with the prolific Mayland). This project allows the musicians to focus on primarily on instrumental tunes, with a sound that deftly walks the line between prog rock and electronica.

With upcoming gigs across the state, including this summer’s 80/35 Festival, Tires will have plenty of opportunities to showcase their new material. The album isn’t out until August, and the first single will be available on May 27, but today we’re pleased to premiere their new video. Enjoy!

Genevieve Trainor lives in Iowa City, Iowa. Passions include heavy music, hoppy beer, and hidden rooms.
