Groovy Katz 5th Annual Hair Show | Blue Moose Tap House | April 20, 5:00 p.m. | $15
You have a vested interest in the improvement of local waterways, right? Sure you do.
But what about your deep-seated–and perhaps unexplored–passion for groovy hair, live music and thematic revelry? On Saturday, April 20, stylists from The Groovy Katz Salon and Spa will host a musical-themed “Broadway Hair Show” at the Blue Moose Tap House in support of our local chapter of the National Audubon Society.
Throughout the night, ten stylists will present ‘walking art pieces’ of sorts. Donning homemade costumes, full makeup and–of course–avante garde hair design, each of these models will be themed after popular musicals such as The Wizard of Oz and Chicago.
Events kick off at 5:00 p.m. with a $15 charge for entry. In celebration of Earth Month, all proceeds will be donated to the National Audubon Society with an emphasis on improving local waterways in the Johnson County area.
“Its a really great opportunity to support earth month and also to just have a fabulous time,” Groovy Katz stylist Katie Bender said. “It’s a huge amount of fun for me.”
The evening will also feature a silent auction, allowing attendees the opportunity to bid on everything from simple restaurant vouchers to tattoos–the kind that don’t come off, so maybe sober up a little before cashing in on that prize.
Keeping things extra groovy, storied blues musician Kevin “BF” Burt will bookend the evening’s festivities with his sultry licks and, I have to say it, his million dollar smile.
Live music, fashion, elegant costumes and hair design come together for the sake of environmental conservation this Saturday. What’s not to love?
