Creator of The Trevor Project brings LGBT teen storytelling workshop to Iowa City
The Future Perfect Project, co-founded by Lacesne and performance artist Ryan Amador, brings LGBTQ high school students together to tell stories and express themselves through original writing, performances and musical compositions. Iowa City will have its own two-day Future Perfect Project workshop from 1-4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

Local children’s author Delia Ray led 5th and 6th graders in the Iowa Youth Writing Project’s HiSTORY Hunt! camp as they explored the intersection of science and writing. The camp was offered in conjunction with the Iowa City Public Library as part of a series of free, summer, writing programs.

Everyone is invited to venture out into the spring weather at Geyer’s Oven west of Iowa City for an evening of pizza in support of the Iowa Youth Writing Project. The all-you-can-eat pizza picnic starts at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow and is the first of three events called “Growing Voices” that aim to bring the community together to support the nonprofit’s mission of “growing children’s voices.”
