At the Englert, on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m., Lisa Lucas will anchor a night that focuses on literature and its unique role in shaping homes that wonder about the mysterious and tolerate differences. As an added bonus, Kiese Laymon will provide a reading before her lecture. Mallory Hellman, director of the Iowa Youth Writing Project, will kick the evening off.

‘Poetry is the best medicine’ — Pokey LaFarge talks past and future ahead of his Englert return

UNESCO City of Literature benefit to feature William Elliott Whitmore, Iris DeMent, the Recliners and more, all covering Bob Dylan
This Wheel’s on Fire, a benefit concert for the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature, will be at the Englert Theater this Friday, April 28.
