Early voting starts in Johnson County
Early voting in Johnson County for the Nov. 7 election started on Wednesday. Voters will be able to cast ballots at the Auditor’s office in the Johnson County Administration Building in Iowa City. The office will be opened from7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office will also be open on Sunday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Iowa City activist Charlie Eastham is running for school board
Longtime Iowa City activist Charlie Eastham announced his candidacy for the Iowa City Community School Board (ICCSB) last week. In a press release, Eastham said he is running for the seat recently vacated by LaTasha DeLoach, to serve the remaining two years on DeLoach’s term.

Issues of affordable housing and discussions about creating an accessible, inclusive community took the forefront Monday evening as Mazahir Salih, the current president of the Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa, announced her candidacy for one of two Iowa City Council at-large seats in the 2017 election.
