There is a good mix of big and small in today’s weekender. On one end are two of the biggest music festivals their respective cities have to offer. That’s 80/35 in Des Moines with headliner Killer Mike and the North Liberty Blues & BBQ fest with The White Buffalo taking on headline duties. If you’re looking for more intimate affairs you can check out a community gardens writing workshop at Iowa City’s Porchlight Literary Arts Center or this month’s poetry open mic at River Lights Book Store in Dubuque. Check out the rest of the lineup for everything in between, including roller derbies, drag fundraisers and fan-favorite burlesque shows.
