As the popular Northside Oktoberfest turns half of downtown Iowa City into Munich on Saturday, communities around the state are getting in the autumn mood. In Dubuque, folks will feast upon the ultimate comfort food at the Mac and Cheese Fest. In Cedar Falls, acclaimed Iowa bands will séance at the Lost Woods Music Festival. Carrie: The Musical is ready to get Cedar Rapids audiences in the Halloween spirit, while artist, author and longtime Coe College educator Sandy Dyas invites the public on a nostalgic journey through her life. And elsewhere in Iowa City, Hancher’s Infinite Dream festival continues with a smorgasbord of thought-provoking events, including a celebration of James Baldwin.
