This coming weekend is the last of the Cancer Zodiac season, which sees the crabs scurrying off to make way for the best star sign. (A Leo may or may not be writing today’s Weekender.) Whatever your astrological sign, there are lots of great events to check out in our reader regions this weekend.
In Iowa City, Aaron Pang performs Falling: A Disabled Love Story at Riverside Theatre. The one-night-only performance doubles as a fundraiser, as Pang will be performing his script at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this fall.
For the bluegrass fans, Des Moines sees the Beaverdale Bluegrass festival happening Saturday while Dubuque continues its Sunday bluegrass series at Mud Lake Park.
At the Raccoon Motel in the Quad Cities, BBQ-themed death metal band Pit Lord performs tunes from their latest album, Massive Grilling Capacity, which our album reviewer calls their best yet.
