Iowa City Brewlab, the science-themed brewery and taproom that opened last July, will hold its official grand opening this Saturday, Feb. 6.

The all-day event in the space started by father-son team Drew and Nathan Letcher, will begin with family time from 12 p.m-2 p.m. A balloon artist will be on hand and free hot dogs will be available for kids until 4 p.m.

Adults can expect beer specials and the special release of Brewlab’s new Belgian pale ale. “Weโ€™ll have some special casks, special beers, tours and tastings every hour,” Drew Letcher said. Wild Culture Kombucha will also be on hand from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with free samples.

Folk trio All Night Kitchen will provide live music from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

โ€œWe finally have all our beers on tap,” Letcher said of holding the grand opening now, instead of last summer. “We just kind of waited until we had all our own beers on tap and are ready to go. We just want to introduce everybody to the brewery.โ€
