The goat who went missing from the University of Iowa Research Park last Friday after escaping a portable carrier remains on the lam, despite an outpouring of publicity.
The goat was sighted by Colleen Sunderland in Coralville on Friday morning, and later near the Coralville Dam. But by Tuesday, the UI’s Office of Research and Economic Development had turned its search to North Liberty, asking residents there to report sightings of the animal, described as “cream-and-white” and roughly the size of “a small deer.”

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the national animal rights group, has taken up the case, according to The Gazette, writing both to UI President Bruce Harreld and the USDA’s regional director of animal care to demand investigation into the welfare of the goat at the UI Research Park, where he is used in orthopedic research.
The so-called UI Goat now has a Twitter account but has not revealed his whereabouts.
