A show featuring the work of eastern Iowa Latino artists opens tonight at Public Space One. The exhibit, Invisible Faces: Identity Portraits, is the culmination of over six months of bilingual workshops and classes with young people in Iowa City and West Liberty. The classes included photography and silkscreen printing, as well as critiques and feedback sessions with artists.
The project received funding from the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures and the Iowa Arts Council in order to help young artists develop a personal language based on photography and graphic arts. The exhibit is a presentation of both the collaborative work and documentation of the workshop process.
The show runs through the end of the month at PS1, 120 N. Dubuque Street in Iowa City.
