Mumford’s w/ The Olympics and Brooks Strause and the Gory Details
The Mill — Friday, Feb. 21 at 9 p.m. ($6)
On Friday, Feb. 21, warm your bones with some high energy, genre defying sounds at the Mumford’s album release show.
Hailing from Ames, Iowa, the self-described “wild freak-folk storyteller dance band with a horn section” have been steadily cultivating a following since 2008. The band has released three albums including their latest, Immediate Family, as well as two 7” collaborations with Samuel Locke Ward and The Wheelers. They have also played a number of local festivals including a memorably frenetic performance opening for Chicago’s punk-art marching band Mucca Pazza during last year’s Mission Creek.
Their shows tend to involve lots of dancing, shirtlessness and sweat, which we could all probably use more of during this last week of February. Local favorites The Olympics and Brooks Strause and the Gory Details will be opening.
