Perhaps best known for his work in the Cleveland-based drone group Emeralds, McGuire split from the band last year to pursue his solo career. The album is already drawing some critical praise — Tiny Mix Tapes claims, “When McGuireโ€™s guitar takes a central position, its melodies spread and reconstitute themselves into a myriad of forms. Itโ€™s here that he most successfully evokes the rhythms of consciousness and the vibrations of life, the delays imitating the fractal profundities of nature.”

McGuire will be visiting Iowa City for the Mission Creek Festival on April 1, in the midst of a string of tour dates with Jenny Hval and Earth.
