Iowa City artist Patrick Reed has a show opening tonight at Public Space One, and is giving an artist talk there at 6:30 p.m.
Below is a photo essay of his we ran seven years ago exploring the public sexuality of college nightlife. We got in a ton of trouble for this one–complaints from advertisers, distribution locations, etc. As I look back at it, I can’t help but wonder how a story like this would be perceived today, if it would be met with equal criticism, or if it would be written in the same way.
“Originally intended as a series of erotic studies,” Reed writes on the Drought Behavior event page on Facebook, “the project commanded a berserk trajectory of its own, veering off into wilder realms.”
Attend tonight’s opening to once again view modern sexuality through Patrick’s lens, and bring your questions and comments to the artist talk at 6:30 p.m.
(Patrick Reed’s photo essay starts on the cover and then picks up again on page 8)

Those captions…oh my…I’m in tears.
