About Little Village

Little Village (founded 2001 and headquartered in Iowa City) is Iowa’s most widely read news, arts and culture magazine.

At LV, we believe that the free and independent press is crucial to a healthy society — and that it’s possible to improve the quality of life in our state through high-quality journalism and arts reporting.

Each month, Little Village editors work with dozens of contributors around the state to cover the communities they live in. We publish letters to the editor, give thoughtful advice to inquisitive readers, and review more local albums and books than anyone else in Iowa. We are community-driven and proud of it.

Little Village’s distribution team delivers over 20,000 magazines, 12 times a year, to over 800 free pickup locations throughout Eastern and Central Iowa. Interested in being a pickup spot? Get in touch.

Little Village is a for-profit publication with a fiscal sponsorship from the Alternative Newsweekly Foundation. While the majority of our revenue comes from print and digital advertising, some comes from reader subscriptions, tax-deductible donations, creative services work and merchandise.
