The Englert sees a night of indie folk courtesy of the Milk Carton Kids and Sierra Hull. In Cedar Rapids, jazz pianist Carson Parker and vocalist Hannah Goodwin celebrate the holiday at the Ideal Theater. And at the Fleur Cinema in Des Moines, the Star City Film & Theater Festival takes place through Saturday. The fest hosts guest of honor Max Allan Collins and includes a live script read of his audio drama True Noir.
